How it Started: From Shared Wisdom to a Shared Project

‘Much More Than a Method’ is an Erasmus+ funded project developed to share the non-formal education methodologies that have been created by TEC trainers over the last 25 years. The wisdom shared here comes from the ‘Training & Evaluation Cycle (TEC)’ of the European Solidarity Corps Programme (ESC), a European volunteer programme for youth. TEC is full of creative non-formal education methods that have shaped young volunteers for a quarter of a century.

Curious to know more? Read about what TEC is and how we all got HERE.

As members of the TEC community, and knowing firsthand how varied and useful this knowledge is, we realised it is too valuable to keep to ourselves. We saw that the tools used to help young volunteers can be used by social workers, community leaders, and anyone welcoming newcomers today. These tools can be used for young audiences, but also to support other groups and communities.

That is why we launched this initiative—to take the best practices from the TEC world and hand them over to the people who need them most.

How This Website Works

We have built this platform as a bridge between two worlds. You will find two distinct spaces here:

1. The Practitioners’ Portal (For the TEC community)

This is the engine room of our project. It is a dedicated space for TEC trainers and educators to upload and exchange their most effective methods. By feeding this portal with high-quality practices, the community ensures that 25 years of experience continues to grow and evolve.

If you are a TEC trainer or a practitioner who has a valuable method to contribute, head over to our TEC portal.

2. Portal for professionals working with youth and people on the move (you are here now)

This space is designed for communities on the move, social workers, and local organizations. Here, we have "translated" the complex wisdom of TEC into a Comprehensive Guide.

This guide takes professional training methods and makes them easy to use for anyone working to integrate newcomers or improve their local community. It is designed to be accessible, practical, and ready for action.
